Sunday Science Blog

In Trumplandia, if something is out of sight, it doesn't exist:

The EPA climate science website has been deleted

The Trump administration just gave the Environmental Protection Agency's website a climate-change-skeptic makeover. Several agency websites including detailed information about climate change research and its causes have been deleted, the agency announced late last night.

Why it matters: It's the first time in 20 years these sites have been removed from public view. And it signals the agency's clear partisan shift as they only want to "reflect EPA's priorities under the leadership of President Trump and Administrator [Scott] Pruitt."

This move provides a less comprehensive review of climate science information and how it is affecting the US — something past administrations have provided, even if skeptical of the data.

Why now: It was previously announced that the EPA climate change website would be taken down, but that didn't happen immediately. While it's unclear what inspired the move now, the decision came just hours before thousands participated in a climate march protest against the Trump administration's proposed changes to the EPA.

Saturday, April 29, will be #45's 100th day as POTUS

It is fitting that a comedian (one of America's best!) does the review of our Buffoon-in-Chief's meager accomplishments.

Also, The Simpsons.

Can you laugh and cry tears of horror at the same time?

Chaffetz says Flynn may have broken law with Russian payments

WASHINGTON — Rep. Jason Chaffetz said Tuesday there is "no data to support the notion that (former national security adviser Michael Flynn) complied with the law” related to payments he had received from Russian-linked entities. The Utah Republican, who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, was speaking to reporters alongside ranking member Elijah Cummings, D-Md., following a committee meeting where they viewed classified documents related to Flynn.

The retired general was Trump's national security adviser until he resigned in February over the controversy about conversations he had with the Russian ambassador after the election.

Hillary is having a damn good laugh, as is everyone who heard the loud-mouthed phony who was an agent for a foreign country, took money from a foreign country, and never disclosed it.

Trump and his administration are guilty of not properly vetting Flynn and for placing him on the NSC.

Outrageous.  And unlawful.

Now pardon us as we enjoy a bit of schadenfreude.

Ivanka Jeered and Booed at Forum in Germany

Ivanka Trump Kushner defended her father at a forum in Germany.

She defended a man who bragged about grabbing women's genitals because he's a star.

She defended a man who bragged about bursting into teenage beauty contestants' dressing rooms, leering at  them while they were half naked.

She defended a man who said it was okay for shock jock Howard Stern to call then 20-year old Ivanka "a piece of ass." Any other father would have punched Stern in the face for such a disgusting remark.

She defended a man who cheated on Wife #1 with Wife #2 and who cheated on Wife #2 with Wife #3 and allegedly cheated on Wife #3 with some beauty queen.

She defended a man who made Wife #1 get breast implants and plastic surgery on her face.

She defended a man who urged Wife #2, while she was his wife, to pose nude in Playboy Magazine.

She defended a man who told Wife #3 she had to get her figure back after the birth of their son, or else, and who had breast implants and facial surgery as well.

She defended a man who bragged about having sex with other men's wives.

She defended a man who said it is hard for a woman who doesn't have double D implants to be a "10," and who evaluates women on their looks alone.

She defended a man who made fun of Carly Fiorina's looks.

She defended a man who called Megyn Kelly a bimbo.

She defended a man who's called women fat pigs if they were overweight. (He's practically obese, BTW.)

She defended a man who disrespected German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.

And the absolute SICKEST of all, Ivanka defended the man who admitted that he was sexually attracted to his daughter.

Facts are stubborn things.

Ivanka refuses to see her father as the misogynist, sexist, and incestuous creep that he is because she's his daughter, and that position will never allow her to see the moral swine that he is, especially where women are concerned

The rest of the world DOES see his and her hypocrisy, and that's why she was jeered and booed.

(And let's never forget that the folks who like to think of themselves as the "Moral Majority" -- the Evangelical right -- have no problem with any of the above. They voted for a man who is everything they detest in a human being. But Trump put the magic "R" after his name, so it's all good.)

This is the Preznit a Large Majority of Goopers Still Support

This is another of many sorry pieces of evidence that shows what's truly important to #45:

He actually bragged about being more popular -- having higher ratings on the Sunday teevee talking heads shows -- than the teevee coverage of the worst attack on American soil that killed 3,000 Americans, September 11, 2001.

Lord Dampnut wants you, and especially his supporters, to always, always remember what a tremendous teevee magnet for ratings he is. He's a bigly magnet for ratings even surpassing when America was attacked. #45 wants America to never forget that he's all that.

Because his popularity is terribly important to this man-child.

Trump boasts of highest TV ratings since ‘the World Trade Center came down’

Donald Trump has long been television ratings gold, and, even as president, he has kept his eye squarely on the small screen as a gauge of his popularity, a barometer for his governing agenda and his ability to dominate the airwaves, as The Washington Post's Ashley Parker and Robert Costa reported Monday. Now, in an interview with the Associated Press released Sunday, Trump set a new standard of hubris even for himself — comparing his ratings prowess to one of the darkest days in U.S. history: Sept. 11, 2001.

“It's the highest for 'Face the Nation' or as I call it, 'Deface the Nation,' " Trump told the AP's Julie Pace, referring to the CBS News Sunday political talk show. “It's the highest for 'Deface the Nation' since the World Trade Center — since the World Trade Center came down.”

Trump said he helped the CBS Sunday morning political talk show score 5.2 million viewers, although it was not clear which appearance he was referring to. Trump's appearance in January 2016 registered 4.6 million viewers, according to TV Newser. His subsequent appearances on “Face the Nation” during the campaign last year got lower ratings, including after a Republican primary debate in February 2016.

And here are his unfulfilled promises he bragged about -- most of them were going to be accomplished on the FIRST DAY in office. His supporters lapped up that b.s. from America's greatest b.s. artist (who gets TREMENDOUS teevee ratings!

Peter Baker, New York Times:
Many of the more high-profile promises he made on the campaign trail are stalled or incomplete, like building a border wall, renegotiating or scrapping the North American Free Trade Agreement, temporarily barring visitors from predominantly Muslim countries and revamping health care. Moreover, he has done nothing to build public support, and his approval ratings are still hovering around 40 percent, far lower than any other modern president at this point in his tenure.

To the extent that he is being held to a measurement he disdains, he has no one to blame but himself. In October, he issued a “Contract With the American Voter,” which he called “my 100-day action plan to Make America Great Again.” He has begun many of the executive actions he promised in that plan. But of the 10 major pieces of legislation whose passage he vowed to fight for “within the first 100 days,” only one has even been introduced. “None have been passed — not a single one — and nine haven’t even been sent to the Congress,” said Ronald A. Klain, who was a top White House aide under Mr. Obama and President Bill Clinton. “If Trump finds himself hoisted on the 100-day test, it is a petard that he erected for himself.”

Trump's Word Means Nothing

Conservative David Frum:

Not even 100 days into his presidency, Trump has done exactly what he attacked Hillary Clinton for contemplating.

Some have described this reverse as “hypocritical.” This description is not accurate. A hypocrite says one thing while inwardly believing another. The situation with Donald Trump is much more alarming. On October 26, 2016, he surely meant what he said. It’s just that what he meant and said that day was no guide to what he would mean or say on October 27, 2016—much less April 6, 2017.

Voters and citizens can expect literally zero advance warning of what Donald Trump will do or won’t do. Campaign promises, solemn pledges—none are even slightly binding. If he can reverse himself on Syria, he can reverse himself on anything. If you feel betrayed by any of these reversals, you have no right to complain…

Every decision presents risks and costs, and any responsible decision maker insists on a detailed itemization of those risks and those costs. That cannot have happened here. Trump has walked into a military confrontation that implicates regional and global security with only the haziest notion of what might go wrong. One friend of mine has warned: “If it were good foreign policy, Trump wouldn’t be doing it.” Foreign policy is hard, and even the best process does not guarantee good outcomes. Sometimes you get lucky, and can escape the consequences of a bad process. But the odds are the odds.

Ninety-nine times out of one hundred, bad processes lead to ugly results.

If you believe that, I have a wall you'll pay for in Mexico.

Yesterday, all over the globe, people marched for science and against ignorance -- that denies climate change, for example. The Dope-in-Chief calls it a Chinese hoax, and the extremists on the right agree with him.

The First (Almost) 100 Days

Just a reminder of how weak and incompetent president #45 is. DJT has the House and Senate, and yet he's passed no legislation (thankfully), he has used only executive orders to undo what Mr. Obama accomplished in his presidency, and he's appointed a new Supreme Court justice to the seat that was stolen from President Obama's term in office.

#45's presidency, so far, has been a farce that only his most ardent fans support. Those people think the country and the rest of the world support and admire #45. The fact is a majority of Americans does not and neither does much of the civilized world.

Here is #45's promises on what he'd accomplish in his first 100 days:

Yahoo News:

The 100-day measure didn’t seem ridiculous to Trump during the campaign.

While vying for the White House, Trump unveiled his “Contract with the American Voter,” in which he vowed to get 10 legislative measures through Congress within the first 100 days of his administration:

Middle Class Tax Relief and Simplification Act,
End the Offshoring Act,
American Energy and Infrastructure Act,
School Choice and Education Opportunity Act,
Repeal and Replace Obamacare Act,
Affordable Childcare and Eldercare Act,
End Illegal Immigration Act,
Restoring Community Safety Act,
Restoring National Security Act and
Clean Up Corruption in Washington Act.

None of these have been enacted yet, but Trump has been advancing toward several of these goals through executive actions.

The first 100 days of a new presidency have historically been high-points in a new POTUS's administration. But the only "high-point" in #45's first 100 days has been a spike in terms of people's distrust of DJT and disgust with his infantile behavior on Twitter.

Americans are on to him, and his dismal approval rating is the proof:

The Man-Child in the White House...

Lord Dampnut had another one of his hissy-fit Tweets today because the New York Times truthfully reported that the number of New England Patriots who showed up at the White House the other day was much smaller than the number of Patriots who showed up when Barack Obama was president.

Here photographic proof:

And here's the Petulant Pouter in Chief:

House on Wednesday.

Failing @nytimes, which has been calling me wrong for two years, just got caught in a big lie concerning New England Patriots visit to W.H.

O'Reilly Gets Booted From The Fox House

And Twitter piles on:

Here’s a sampling (the first one is the best):

Looks like the only job Bill O'Reilly will be able to get now is PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

If Bill O'Reilly's next job is at the White House the prophecy will be complete... and I'm not done building the ark yet.

Great question by @benberkowick - what are the odds O'Reilly's next gig is at Russia Today?
